Snafu Kitties Bid Us A Mew

If you haven't seen local, piano-indie popsters SNAFU Kitties before then you better head to Emo's inside stage Saturday night, 'cause it's your last chance. It's true dear reader, my information comes from a source very close to the band (the drummer) and he tells me the lead singer will be moving to Europe. I think he said Denmark but it might be the Netherlands or Germany I forget. So, in the interest of great journalism, I'm going with "singer moved to Europe" as reason for the bands...disbanding. Oddly enough, the final performance will also be a CD release party, so we can remember them as they were. Actually that's a great way of becoming a unicorn band that is more popular reunited than they were to begin with.

My friends over at 'Nites Blog are also a source close to the band. They've captured some really great SNAFU Kitties performances that you can find on their YouTube Channel as well as a slew of other great, and largely unrecognized, other, local, Austin bands. SNAFU Kitties have officially been a band since our first show on May 22nd, 2007 at Beerland. Since that time, we've played steadily in and around Austin, and as far as Mexico City. We've had a good run. Sadly, all good things must eventually reach their end. Our wonderful singer, keyboardist, and songwriter, Jessie, will soon be off to Denmark to embark on an exciting new adventure with her husband, Mads, marking the unfortunate end of SNAFU Kitties. LET'S SEND HER OFF IN STYLE.

Your presence is sincerely requested at SNAFU Kitties' FINAL PERFORMANCE. It will be a wonderful opportunity to see the band you've "kept meaning to check out," or enjoy once more for the last time. Not only that, we will finally be releasing our long-awaited and laboriously produced self-titled album. This is a LIMITED RELEASE, y'all. Each one is hand-printed by our bass player, J.J., the Rural Rooster and will only be available at the show. Once they're gone, they're gone for good.

I don't really know about the other bands on Satuday night's bill but the line about "enjoy a diverse lineup" is a bit ominous. That could mean, "be prepared to see some crazy-ass shhh before we go on" but I'll enter Emo's with an open(ish) heart(ish).

Kitties Play Emo's

This is sort of short notice, but I completely forgot to mention that local up-and-comers, Snafu Kitties, will be playing at Emo's tonight. Doors open at 8p, the show starts at 10p I expect Snafu Kitties will be the first band, so you might want to get there by 9:30ish.

Snafu Kitties have been in the studio, as of late, working a new album. Word from Pascal (the kitties drummer) is that they are playing some of the best stuff they've ever played. So expect a well-rehearsed set of piano-pop, indie rock with lots of waltz time :-) Look for me I'll be the guy in the plaid shirt, and skinny jeans drinking PBR...that's only funny if you've actually been to Emo's I suppose.

Rounding out the rest of the bill will be, other feline-themed band, Stephanie and Her Melodic Cat followed by Mr. Lewis and the Funeral 5. I'm not exactly sure how much, if anything, tickets will set you back but let's say less than or equal to $8. Oh yeah and this is all happening at Emo's Inside don't get all confused and end up at Emo's Lounge...unless you want to catch Flametrick Subs and/or Highrollers.

Last minute update via text message, Pascal will be playing an hour-long set of thrash-core/punk at Red 7 with Reagan Era from 9-10, then running around the corner all warmed up to play with the Snafu Kitties at 10. DON'T FEED PASCAL SHOTS!!

Snafu Kitties Bring the Melody

Local pop-rockers, Snafu Kitties, are playing tonight and tomorrow. That's two chances to get in on the melodious, keyboard-driven sounds of Snafu Kitties.

Tonight's show is at the fabulous Beauty Bar. Snafu Kitties will be featured fairly early in the evening as part of a fashion show/magazine launch/rock concert. I suppose it should be mentioned that the magazine is called the Lipstick Pages and it's an online feminist zine. Snafu Kitties has a female lead singer, hence the feminist angle.




Tomorrow night you can catch the Kitties at, South Austin-staple, Trophy's. If you've never been to Trophy's you should know that it's a beer bar, which means if you got a flask they ain't lookin'. Try not to get obnoxiously drunk and distract people from the Kitties though, come on man...seriously.
