SXSW 2012 Preview: BeatauCue

Today we head to France to check out electronic-duo BeatauCue. Hailing from the Normandy country-side these two have made their mark on the European dance scene with high profile remixes by the likes of Major Lazer, Two Door Cinema Club, and Kylie Minogue. From what I can tell, their latest release is a single called, Kiho, which can be found on Spotify, Soundcloud, Beatport and their official YouTube channel. As you probably know, electronic music tends to be less album-oriented and more singles-oriented so, it doesn't look like BeatauCue has a full-length debut LP yet. Although, most of the information I have found is in French so I MIGHT be wrong about that. Regardless, all of the remixes and singles I've found have been really fantastic so I'm happy to listen to those for now. For their official SXSW showcase, you'll find BeatauCue playing at Malverde, Friday March 16th. As of right now, there is no official time listed for when they'll begin but you can bet your ass it's going to be a hell of a dance-party if it's going down at Malverde.

Unofficially, I haven't seen anything listed for BeatauCue yet but that doesn't really mean anything. You don't fly to Austin from France to play a 45 minute set at Malverde so keep an eye on Show List Austin, Do512 and SXShhh if you want to be sure to catch them while they're here in Austin.

Ultra8201 Turns 5!

Generally, turning 5 implies a trip to Chuck E. Cheese's, maybe some Dora the Explorer shit but in Austin we do things a little differently. When our friends over at Ultra8201 turn 5 tomorrow, we'll be getting drunk off our asses and dancing like no one is watching. Although, in reality, everyone will be watching because we'll be so drunk and foolish looking, oh and everyone who has ever had a blog or twitter account in Austin will be at Malverde, so chances are there will be evidence later. Now, I know that the Robyn show is going on tomorrow night too but Malverde is, literally, right next door so you have no excuse for not stopping by after you get your Swedish-pop fix.

The DJ's from Learning Secrets will be providing the tunes, as they do every Thursday night at Malverde and the sexy, hipster bartenders will be providing the drinks (not for free). It's up to you to provide your presence, your swagger and your complete and utter focus on making a fool of yourself.

Chromeo at Stubb's

Well folks, tomorrow night Chromeo hits Stubb's Waller Creek Amphitheater and as of the writing of this post tickets are still available. The band just played a free show in Brooklyn this past weekend, which was very rainy and they still brought the house down. Get your dancing shoes on and get yourself to Stubb's 'cause these Canadian boys know how to throw down some electro-funk, house-jams. I mean, either Hall or Oates performed with them at Bonnarroo this year and as far as I'm concerned that's the only seal of approval any artist really needs. I can't remember which member of H&O it was but I hope it was the guy with the latino jerry-curl. This song is the first single from Chromeo's latest LP, Business Casual.

Make sure you get to Stubb's early enough to catch Holy Ghost as well. This tour with Chromeo will definitely up their recognition factor and I expect them to slay tomorrow. I may be wrong about this, but I feel like I saw Holy Ghost at FunFunFun Fest last year. If I recall I really liked them, otherwise I'm just shining you on.

Furthermore there is an official after-party for the Chromeo gig, it's over at Malverde on 2nd st. You can find full details and a beautiful flyer over Do512 for the after-party.

Also, upon further research, it was not the Hall or Oates with the latino-fro. It's the blonde one.
