Planning Ahead: Spring/Early Summer Show Listings

Spring is certainly upon us and the glorious monster that is SXSW is in our rearview for another year. We have our venues back and they have a lot of really great stuff coming up. Austin Psych Fest, Chaos in Tejas and Moontower Comedy Festival are all on the horizon as well.

You can buy tickets in real life from another human face at End of an Ear or Waterloo Records, just ask the human faces at the counters and they can provide you with lists of the events they have for sale. If you'd rather buy your tickets online, simply click the name of the artist or event from the list below the break. Some of the events listed don't have pre-sale tickets and/or the tickets are not on sale yet. In those cases, clicking the name of the artist will bring you to an event page with more info. Event listings that have a ~~line~~ through them, are already sold-out. If you buy tickets to any of the shows listed or just end up being at them for some reason, please don't talk loudly throughout the event. Also, buy me a drink. Thanks.

Planning Ahead: Ticket Linkage

2013 is really starting to ramp up now. Last night Purity Ring was in town, Cat Power will be here this weekend and that's just a teensy, tiny preview of what's in store for us this year. It'll be SXSW before you know it so you better get out there and enjoy our venues before they are plastered with Cool Ranch Doritos Tacos banners. In other words, it's time for me to post a super labor-intensive but super simple looking series of links highlighting shows you should get tickets for before they're sold-out. As usual, I want to mention that there are shows I'll be mentioning/linking to that I wouldn't, necessarily, attend myself but I feel like some of you would want to know about these shows. Also, this site is not sponsored by any of these venues but I'm not opposed if they'd like to kick me some cash, call me. Let's start with this Saturday's Cat Power show at ACL Live. I can't believe this show isn't sold-out yet?!?! Her last record, Sun is SO. FUCKING. GOOD.

Planning Ahead: Another Ticket Link Roundup Post

Well folks it's a new month, which means it's time to get prepared for all of the awesome upcoming shows in and around Austin. As usual, this list is not comprehensive, it is simply intended to be a highlighter. I do not, necessarily, endorse all of the shows I will link to some of them I have included for you more than for me. If the show appears with a ~~strike-through~~ then unfortunately it is already sold-out, if the artist's name is simply bold without a link that means there is no ticket page (yet). All you have to do to buy tickets is to click the name of the artist, the ticket purchase page will open in a new window and you can take it from there.

Let's start with tonight shall we? Austin's-own Strange Boys are back in town and they'll be tearing up the Mohawk's outside stage. I don't think all of the band is based here anymore but we will still claim them as our own, just like we do with Spoon and all of the other bands who may or may not actually live in Austin anymore. Their latest release Live Music really sort of floated under my radar but it has some really great tunes. It's not a live album and in fact the title is with a short "i" sound as in live and let live. Tickets are still available and since the show was announced not too long ago you may even be able to just pay at the door.

Planning Ahead: Spend that Holiday $$$

It's a new month, a new year, new beginnings and you've got all kinds of holiday related debt OR you're flush with holiday cash OR you're a Jehovah's Witness and holiday is just a bangin' Madonna track. Regardless, I thought y'all might want the heads-up on some fantabulous shows that will be in the Austin area coming up in the near or distant future.

First of all, you should know that SXSW is nigh and the sooner (before Jan. 13th) you buy a badge or wristband the cheaper it will be. I know a lot of you just enjoy all of the free side parties and stuff and that's aight. Trust me though, if you just spring for a music wristband it saves you lots of headache with RSVPing, pretending you like Perez Hilton, standing in lines outside of power plants for prima donnas and all that Jazz. In any case, at this point you can only buy badges for SXSW but keep an ear to the street for the sale of the wristbands. For now, check out a song from a band I'm really looking forward to seeing at SXSW 2012 and then look for all of the ticket links after the jump.
