Fleet Foxes w/Cave Singers

I have been anticipating Fleet Foxes' return to Austin for so long that I can't believe it's finally happening tomorrow. They may have been back in the meantime but the last time I saw Fleet Foxes was summer of 2008 at the Mohawk. So much has happened in the last three years for both me and the band. For instance, their show tomorrow night it at Stubb's and it sold-out almost the moment it went on sale. They've also released their, highly-anticipated, follow-up LP, Helplessness Blues. It was released last Tuesday and if you haven't picked it up yet you should probably flee your house in a panic to your local record shop so you can get yourself a copy. They haven't turned into a death-metal band or anything it's just another beautiful song cycle filled with the gorgeous harmonies we've come to expect from the Fleet Foxes. As far as tomorrow night's show is concerned I'm warning everyone now, they better keep the chatter to a minimum, I am prepared to ask people to STFU. The delicate layers of a Fleet Foxes song do not lend themselves well to a bunch of annoying hipsters who aren't interested in the concert they paid to see. To those of you who are reading this and kicking yourselves because you didn't get tickets to the show I'd keep an eye on twitter. Maybe save a search for "Fleet Foxes Stubb", if last week's Arcade Fire show is any indication there will be people who have tickets and simply can't go to the show. Don't forget though, you should only pay face value don't fuel the scalper economy Austin!

Back to the talking through a concert thing for a minute, I will say that I did recently see The Decemberists at Stubb's and the crowd was very attentive so I have high-hopes for tomorrow night. Just wanted to put that positive vibe out there via Oprah.

Fleet Foxes' opening act The Cave Singers are touring in support of their third LP, No Witch. I have not heard it yet but I have heard some great things already. I've been a fan of their previous work so I don't see why that should change now?

Doors for tomorrow night's show open at 7p and the show MUST be over by 10:30p, as it's a Tuesday night show outside. In other words, get your dinner on early and head downtown if you want to get a parking space. Just throwin' that out there.
